Netflix’s Clickbait is set to premiere on August 25, 2021. The dark drama will star Adrian Grenier (The Devil Wears Prada and Entourage) in a series that revolves around his character, Nick Brewer, finding himself haunted by his ghosts. Much to everybody’s delight, Netflix just dropped the TV show’s first set of photos and a teaser trailer, a month ahead of its release.
Is Clickbait going to be the next big Netflix series?
Much like every other TV show and series, Netflix planned for Clickbait to premiere much earlier. After principal photography began in December 2019, Netflix had to stop production on the series in March 2021 because of COVID-19. It wasn’t until November 2020 that Netflix was able to resume filming in Melbourne, Australia. As for why audiences just can’t seem to hold their excitement for Clickbait, the dark eight-episode series will star Grenier as Nick Brewer. The show describes him as a “loving father, husband, and brother who one day suddenly mysteriously disappears.” Soon after, a video pops up on the net with a kidnapped Nick holding up a sign that says, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die.” Netflix describes the series as a “compelling, high stakes thriller” that sees Nick’s wife (Betty Gabriel) and sister (Zoe Kazan) race against time and their own emotions as they uncover more about the mysterious and unknown side of Nick. Furthermore, Netflix adds that Clickbait is a series that is relevant to our time. It will reportedly explore the influence of social media and the difference between who we are in real life and our online persona.
