According to Ubisoft at the Ubisoft Forward showcase, Valhalla will end with the upcoming DLC, The Last Chapter. Ubisoft didn’t reveal much about the upcoming freebie for Valhalla. The developers will use this opportunity to tie up any loose ends left by Eivor’s adventures. Expect to see a fresh set of historical figures, as is the series’ tradition. Given that it’s free, we wouldn’t be expecting a lot from The Last Chapter. If nothing else, it feels a lot more like a victory lap than anything else. But, judging from the second set of DLCs for Valhalla, especially The Forgotten Saga and A Fated Encounter, fans won’t want to miss out either.
— Assassin’s Creed (@assassinscreed) September 10, 2022 With Mirage now confirmed as a more stealth-oriented title, Valhalla marks the end of the franchise’s open-world RPG era. After the last two installments took audiences to Egypt and Greece, Valhalla went to 9th-century England to take us to a time when Vikings had to flee their former homes and settle in the British Isles. Many consider Valhalla the best Assassin’s Creed game in years and the numbers back that up. It has made over $1 billion in revenue throughout its lifetime, which is absurd when you consider that it doesn’t have a multiplayer mode. But, Valhalla also proved to Ubisoft that the series had grown stale again. This is why there’s so much fan optimism for Mirage. In the meantime, we can look forward to finding out where Eivor is going as she sets “forth for distant shores and new adventures.” The prevailing theory is that Eivor will head to Vinland next. She visits the North American location once in Valhalla where you find her remains, which could be explained in The Last Chapter. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait until next year to find out where The Last Chapter will be taking us and Eivor.
