— CanWeGetSomeToast (@CanWeGetToast) January 7, 2023 The sophomore season of What If…? was supposed to be the earliest TV series for Phase Five. The alternate reality series stars Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, an extraterrestrial being that observes the events of the Multiverse. Many of the characters from the MCU appear as alternate versions of themselves in the series. The Hawkeye spin-off Echo starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo is also reportedly delayed until early next year. The series was originally set to premiere later this year as a part of Phase Five even though it’s already finished filming as of August last year. On the other hand, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, stars Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness. The series started filming last month and is reportedly expected to last until May 2023. According to the rumors, the series will likely be delayed to 2025 after the release of Daredevil: Born Again. A reason for the delays has not been provided but fans speculate it has something to do with Disney’s intensified focus on “quality over quantity”. The streaming platform may also want to streamline its content plans and spread it out across the Multiverse Saga. Phase 5 on Disney+ will now start with Secret Invasion some time in the next few months. The show will see the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Emilia Clarke will have her MCU debut in the series as Abigail Brand, a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. that has the power of pyrokinesis.
