What kind of games will THQ Nordic announce?

In celebration of the brand’s 10th anniversary, THQ Nordic is holding a digital showcase on September 17. According to the announcement, The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighly will host the event where fans will “witness the return of legendary franchises and sequels to beloved games.” What is perhaps the most interesting part of THQ Nordic’s announcement is the final sentence, where it says, “We hope you are ready, kids!” Many believe that the line is a reference to the theme song of the popular children’s cartoon by Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants. The song starts with Patchy the Pirate saying “Are you ready, kids?”. If the speculation is correct, then a new SpongeBob game might be on the way. THQ Nordic currently owns the license to make SpongeBob video games after partnering with Nickelodeon back in 2018. The company most recently released SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated back in 2020. The game is a remake of 2003’s SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Of course, the only way for anyone to know what THQ Nordic is going to announce is to watch the showcase. At the moment, THQ Nordic has several games lined up for later in 2021 and beyond. This includes the next-gen update for Biomutant, which received mixed reviews upon its launch earlier this year.
