Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition came out in late 2021 in a fairly broken state and it hasn’t improved much since. The remastered trio of the classic PS2-era GTA games was rumored to come to the Epic Games Store later this month, which is true. What most didn’t expect is that the bundle would come to Valve’s digital games distribution platform first. Interestingly enough, the Steam version of the GTA Trilogy on the PC is listed as “playable” on the Steam Deck, which is enough to make you wonder who double-checks these verifications. If it’s any consolation, the Steam version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is listed for 50% off until February 2. To no one’s surprise, the user reviews on Steam have been mixed. The most popular ones lean more toward the negative. Some are thankful for adding controller support and making the older games run on modern platforms at a “stable 60 fps”. Unfortunately, most agree that the only reason to buy the GTA Trilogy is if you can’t get your hands on a digital copy of the original games. Even at a discount, the GTA Trilogy still appears to be a hard pass for a lot of people. It isn’t clear if Rockstar plans to fix this situation anytime soon or if it’s just going to leave the GTA Trilogy the broken mess that it is. Rockstar Games is currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6. Take-Two Interactive claims that GTA 6 will set a new “creative benchmark”. Outside of teases, leaks, and hints, Rockstar, and Take-Two have yet to reveal the next GTA game.
