As you might expect, it’s every bit as bloody and as stabby (is that even a word) as every other Scream film before it. At the same time, it pays homage to the first-ever Scream movie that featured Drew Barrymore and premiere back in 1996.
Ghostface is back for SCREAM along with the rest of the original crew
The masked serial killer, Ghostface, makes his blood-curdling return in the new trailer for SCREAM, the first new installment since the passing of the franchise forebearer, Wes Craven. Without Craven, Ready or Not’s dynamic duo, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and Tyler Gillett, have stepped up to the plate to try and give a new generation of moviegoers something to be scared about. Mind you, Ghostface isn’t back on his own. Scream veterans such as Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton, are all reprising their roles from previous Scream films. Now, as for who Ghostface is in the upcoming film, the tagline from the poster, ‘It’s Always Someone You Know’, should give you a good idea. Of course, as this is a SCREAM film, we can assume that the directors will find a way to try and introduce a mind-bending twist or two. SCREAM is scheduled to premiere on January 14, 2022. In addition to some of the OG cast returning, SCREAM is also going to star several other newcomers. This includes You’s Jenna Ortega, who is going to feature in SCREAM in the same way as Drew Barrymore did back in 1996. Other fresh faces include Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Melissa Barrera, and Jack Quaid. It will be interesting to see if Paramount does push through with January 14, 2022, premiere date. Even if it already looks like it’s good to go, you could have said the same for Paramount’s schedule this year until the studio decided to make changes.
