According to a recent press release, we now have a release date for the upcoming Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, respectively. In addition to this, the release date for the first-ever open-world game in the franchise, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, was announced as well.
When Are the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Remakes Release Dates?
Both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set to release on November 19, 2021, for the Nintendo Switch, just in time for the holidays. Meanwhile, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is just a couple of months away with a January 28, 2022 release date. This isn’t all the good news that Pokéfans can look forward to as well. According to the company behind the worldwide phenomenon, a new update to Pokémon Home is also set to arrive soon with the “Catch Calendar”. This is a feature that will let players view registered Pokémon on the Pokedex from different angles. While this isn’t a groundbreaking feature, those who’ve been having fun taking photos of their favorite pocket monsters in the new Pokémon Snap will appreciate the new addition. Speaking of new experiences, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are not new. Both are remakes of the original Diamond and Pearl versions that were released back in 2006. The two will also serve as the first Pokémon remakes released since 2014’s Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, as well as the first main games in the series not made by Game Freak. According to the Pokémon Company, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will remain faithful to the original versions with the promise of adding current-gen upgrades. Perhaps this is a reaction to the fan backlash to Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!. For those who are wondering what Game Freak is working on, don’t worry. The longtime Pokémon developers are still very much active. They currently have their hands full on what is arguably the most anticipated Pokémon game to release in years. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a full-on open-world RPG rendition of the Pokémon universe. But, that’s not the only thing that the upcoming title is bringing to the proverbial table. Unlike Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be set in the past, back when catching and battling Pokémon were drastically different. As announced previously, all three upcoming Pokémon games will release on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately for those who were expecting, the Pokémon Company did not mention the long-rumored Nintendo Switch Pro.
