Speaking on the podcast, No Guts No Galaxy, Piranha Games president Russ Bullock disclosed that the new title will be a single-player standalone game, saying: Bullock made sure to bring up the fact that the game will be officially announced later this year. Adding to this, Bullock restated that the upcoming game is “not the next online game” but rather a “single-player co-op type of pathway, kind of building off that whole technology base.” Since its inception, the MechWarrior game series has been predominantly released on Windows, with the exception of MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. The latter was originally available through the Epic Games Store. Later, it was made available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A true old classic franchise, BattleTech and MechWarrior have definitely gotten with the times, with popular and well received titles launching in both sublines in 2018 and 2019 respectively, to great critical acclaim and financial success. One of the original western mech based sci-fi properties is alive and well, and looks to have a bright future ahead of it. We’ll get more information on the next MechWarrior game later this year.
