After its work on the aforementioned, criminally underrated hunting game, Phoenix Labs has unveiled a new farming/life simulation title, Fae Farm. This new game lets players explore a magical land with their friends. The game can be best described as a cross between the farming and life simulation of Star Dew Valley, with the animation of Animal Crossing. Fae Farm was announced during the recently concluded Nintendo Direct. According to Phoenix Labs, Fae Farm is a “love letter” to arming and simulation games. The game is heavily influenced by Harvest Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Animal Crossing.

In Fae Farm, players take the role of an adventurer joining a small community in a land called Azoria. The game is a farming/life simulation game mixed with role-playing elements. Players can explore dungeons, fight off monsters and gather resources from nearby locations. From the trailer, players can be seen planting and harvesting crops, fishing in a nearby river, and chopping down trees. We can also see dungeon exploration and a simple combat mechanic where players can use magic skills. Players can also develop and decorate their homesteads with items that can be unlocked through exploration and other activities. Decorating the inside of your house will give you bonus stats like increased health, mana, and stamina. The bigger and cozier the home is, the better the stat bonuses. There is a strong multiplayer element to Fae Farm as you can have up to four homesteads for yourself and your friends to live in. Players can drop in and out of the game seamlessly and help you progress through coop missions and dungeon exploration. Multiplayer games can be either local or online. Fae Farm will also feature seasons and a day and night cycle with surprises appearing as the season changes. At the end of each day, there will be a summary of your achievements, things you have sold, and level-ups. Here’s what creative director, Katie De Sousa, had to say about Fae Farm: The game will let players have multiple saved games so they can play and progress on their own or with multiple parties. Fae Farm will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive and is slated for launch in the second quarter of 2023.
