According to Blizzard, the new Overwatch 2 hero will be available at the start of Season 2. According to Overwatch lore, Ramattra is a military leader during the Omnic crisis. After the war, the hero became the head of Null Sector, a terrorist organization based in Britain fighting for the freedom of Omnics and the creation of an Omnic-led nation. Previously, Rammatra led the Omnic forces during the crisis but only wanted peace for the robotic race. He tried to shed his weapons and strive for peace with the Shambali, a group of peaceful robots. His efforts were in vain and Ramattra grew resentful of humans. He then concluded that humans and Omnics could not co-exist and decided to use force to further his cause. Ramattra became the leader of the Null Sector and declared war against humans. In Overwatch 2, Ramattra has the ability to transform from offensive to defensive mode. His nemesis form gives him the ability to deal damage from range and decimate softer targets. “I don’t think we can overestimate how scary Ramattra gets when he goes into nemesis form,” says lead narrative designer Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie. The role of tanks has changed in Overwatch 2. Rather than functioning as a defensive shield for teammates, players are now using tanks to charge into the front lines and deal massive amounts of damage. The faster pace of Overwatch 2 made tanks more versatile in their gameplay. Ramattra will be locked behind the Battle Pass in the same manner as Kiriko. Players can have the option to purchase the Premium battle pass for season 2 to unlock the character. Gamers can also opt to grind the battle pass and unlock Ramattra at Tier 55. It can take a while for players using the free battle pass method to unlock the new hero. Some estimate that it would take around 50 hours to reach Tier 55. Fans have been frustrated with the new Battle Pass system making players grind out coins and skins. Blizzard has recently reached out to some gamers to ask their opinion on the Battle Pass system and microtransactions. Hopefully, the company will be making positive changes to these systems for the benefit of players. Ramattra will be coming to Overwatch 2 on December 6, 2022, when the new season starts.
