Now, years later, the English remake of the thriller film is finally set to release on the popular streaming platform with a brand-new trailer generating a ton of buzz.

One call in one morning sends Jake spiraling in The Guilty

Jake Gyllenhaal stars on Netflix as Joe Bayler. Joe is a former police detective who has since switched careers to become a 911 operator. The story of The Guilty takes place one fateful morning inside a 911 dispatch center. What initially appeared to be a typical workday for Joe turns out to be everything but. As the trailer makes it clear, Joe finds himself going from fielding the usual calls to finding himself racing against time to try and save Emily, a mysterious woman who calls 911 asking for help. Joe goes on a frantic search for Emily as she hangs up the phone while Joe was attempting to find out her exact location, simply saying, “I’m gonna die.” As Joe desperately tries to make the most out of what little he has, he finds out that there just isn’t enough help on the way. In addition to having very few details about Emily’s whereabouts, local law enforcement currently has their hands full dealing with a forest fire. To make matters worse, Emily’s young daughter reaches out to 911 to try and find out where her mother is. From there on, the situation only gets worse and worse, with the trailer suggesting that not everything in The Guilty is as it appears. Here is a complete list of all the actors set to make an appearance in The Guilty:

Jake Gyllenhaal Peter Sarsgaard Riley Keough Paul Dano Ethan Hawke Da’Vine Joy Randolph David Castañeda Byron Bowers Bill Burr Christina Vidal Adrian Martinez Beau Knapp Edi Patterson

The Guilty is set to premiere on Netflix on October 1.
