Getting Drafted
Depending on your performance, you will get placed on six different options:
Solid 1st Round Late First Round Early 2nd Round Mid 2nd Round Late 2nd Round Undrafted
Aiming for the Solid 1st round is the most optimal because your game salary would be higher, and you can earn more VC. Getting a Solid 1st round draft gives you 800 to 1000 VC per game, letting you improve your player more. To get the best chance at getting drafted for the Solid 1st Round, you need to perform great on different draft challenges. You would also need to play through the different training sessions during the preludes. Getting a B in full in-game scrimmage will help increase your stock. The draft combine and tryouts are other challenges you need to perform well to get to the first-round draft.
The Invitational
The first draft challenge in NBA 2K20 is you playing in an Invitational Game. It would help if you got a high Teammate grade to increase your chances of getting drafted for a team. A grade of C+ and above is optimal for your first assessment. Always take note of the tips above, and avoid making aggressive plays if it would mean you lose the ball. A good pass and assist would increase your teammate grade a lot.
The Draft Combine
The Draft Combine is another challenge that will greatly affect your draft assessment. You will have to go through different shooting challenges and drills. The important factor to watch out for in the shooting challenges is to get the meter as close as you can to green. To increase your stock, you should aim to get a three-star on the following tests:
Vertical Jump Running Jump Sprint Sidestep sprint Deadlift
Before doing the tests, you get at least two practice attempts. If you are not used to Quick-time events, use this practice attempts to get the timing correctly. As you get closer to the drafting, you will see your draft standing and the amount of VC you will get throughout your career. Always check your draft placement to see how you are fairing well.
Summer League
The Summer League is a series of games that will determine the teams interested in your abilities. Your performance in each game plays an important factor in your draft assessment. There are about four games in the Summer League, and you must play well in all of them if you want to get drafted first round. If you are playing to get to the team of your dreams, you should take the summer League games seriously. A key factor in performing well in the Summer League is not always shooting when the opportunity shows itself. Make sure that you are only taking smart shots, and instead focus on great ball handling. Losing the ball will decrease your grade significantly. If it comes down to it, make great passes instead. You do not always have to be shooting threes; instead, become a playmaker for your team and drive the enemy to make aggressive plays that you can punish.
Choosing your Team
Although you cannot directly choose your team, you will influence the team that will pick you. You would be able to pick three teams that you want to do a workout for. While most people know which team they want to go to, some teams are better suited to your position. Choosing these teams increases your chances of winning, and the teams in bold are the best fit for your position.
