When the original game was remastered, developer Insomniac Games decided to change the face of Peter Parker. It caught some fans off guard and created a bit of controversy. It looks like Insomniac Games will also be making a major change in the sequel. The voice actor for Harry Osborne will reportedly not be returning to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This change is not as big as the alteration done to Peter Parker in the remaster, but it is still significant given Harry Osborne’s role in the sequel. Scott Porter, the voice actor behind Harry Osborne in the original will not be reprising his role. Porter shared the news via a now-deleted tweet. Fortunately, we found a screenshot of the tweet on Reddit.
“While I voiced Harry in the first Spider-Man I, unfortunately, will not be in the sequel, " shares Porter. “They decided to photo real and the difference between me and Harry’s ages was too much to overcome I believe. I was bummed but I get it. Gonna be an incredible game.” Scott Porter has an extensive career as an actor and as a voice talent. He appeared in the series Friday Night Lights and is currently the voice of Flash in the adult animated series Harley Quinn. In video games, he recently lent his voice to Heimdall in God of War Ragnarok. It is an interesting revelation from one of the voice actors. We have had some similar controversy regarding one of the voice actors of Bayonetta 3, but it was over how much they were being paid. What is even more interesting is the fact that Yuri Lowenthal will be returning as the voice of Peter Parker. The new character model for Peter Parker is 28-year-old Ben Jordan, while Lowenthal is already 51 years old as of writing, so clearly, age isn’t a factor in the decision. According to reports, Insomniac Games made the change to the remaster of the original game to have a “better facial match” for Yuri Lowenthal. Harry Osborne was not seen in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man game, only his voice was heard in certain sequences. The character will, however, have a bigger role in the sequel and Insomniac Games may have opted to match the voice to the character model. We do not yet have information on who will be the character model and voice actor for Harry Osborne in the sequel. And so far, Insomniac Games and PlayStation have not yet confirmed the news of the change. We will update our readers once more information is available. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 in 2023.
