Beginning the Quest
To begin the quest, you need to go to the northwestern waypoint of the Serpent’s Heart. From here, you need to glide down the cliff until you see a small opening as seen in the image above. Enter this opening to go further into the cave and keep heading west until you see an altar that looks like multiple stacked boxes near a challenge totem. Climb the Altar and activate the symbols. You will see small arrows appearing next to the symbols. The number of arrows beside the symbol is important because this indicates a sequence that you need to use later.
Solving the 1st Puzzle
Once you have the sequence memorized, go back to the teleport waypoint from earlier. You will see a series of rectangular walls with symbols on them. These symbols are similar to the ones on the altar from earlier. Now what you want to do is to go into the rectangular walls with symbols according to the sequence shown on the altar. If you did it correctly, all the symbols will be lit up in the center of the platform and an afterimage will appear.
Talk to the Afterimage
Talk to the Afterimage in the middle of the platform and it will tell you that it has forgotten its identity. You need to find items related to the afterimage in the area. The first item is an Ancient Stone tablet that you can find in the image above. Talk to the afterimage again and you will need to go into the Narrows this time. But before you go into the Narrows, you need to make sure that it is currently Whitenight.
The Narrows
Now that it is Whitenight, go into the Narrows using the western teleport waypoint. From the teleport waypoint head northeast until you can go down the cliff. You will find three triangular statues and see lanterns on top of each triangular statue, and the statue below it will move the lanterns. To solve the puzzle, you need to hit the lanterns until the left lantern is on the top, the middle lantern is on the bottom and the right lantern is on the middle. If you do it correctly, you will get a notification that says “This seems to be the right position” and it will open up a pathway in the middle. Go inside the room and turn left and you will see the Enkanomiya mechanism. Use this mechanism to change the mode to Evernight.
Find the Children
Drop down to the lower level and turn right. Climb up the stairs here and follow the quest marker until you see an afterimage right next to a chest. Talk to the afterimage and choose the “After the sun, the darkness starts…” option and he will tell you the information about the Waters of Lethe. Open the chest beside him and it will give you the secret room key. Use the western teleport waypoint in the Evernight Temple to go to the next quest area.
Lotus Eater
Go to the quest area and defeat the enemies. Investigate the quest area to get the Waters of Lethe. Once you have the item, go to the southern teleport waypoint in the Serpent’s Bowels and go on top of the Dragonbone Flower. Water the plant using the Waters of Lethe and Paimon will tell you to come back later and have a look. You need to wait for the server to reset the next day. After the server resets, go back to the Lotus and investigate. You will get the Dragonbone Orb and you will complete the Lotus Eater hidden quest.
Rewards and What to do with the Dragonbone Orb
Aside from getting the Dragonbone Orb, you will also get a total of 200 Adventurer’s EXP, 30 Primogems, and 3 Hero’s Wit. But what exactly do you do with the Dragonbone Orb? You can sell it to three different shop owners in Monstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. The shops are the Wind Wind Comes Glory in Monstadt, Xigu Antiques in Liyue, and Netsuke no Gen Crafts in Inazuma. You can get 80,000 Mora and a unique food item depending on each shop in exchange for the Dragonbone Orb. However, you can also just keep the Dragonbone Orb for yourself and not sell it. Selling the Dragonbone Orb does not give you any achievement.
Hidden Room
When you open the chest beside Adonis, you will also get an item called Secret Room Key. To use this item, go to the southwestern teleport waypoint in the Narrows. Head to the marker as seen in the map above and drop off the cliff and you will see a lower platform. Approach the wall and use the Secret Room Key to open the door. Enter the room and turn right, following the path until you encounter some barrel bombs. Attack the bombs to open up a new area and you will encounter a puzzle.
Hidden Room Puzzle
Climb up the railings to your right and change the mechanism to Whitenight, this will unlock the mechanism on your left. Change the mechanism on your left to Evernight then activate the cube to your north. Go back to the left mechanism and change it to Whitenight then change the mechanism on your right to Evernight. Now go to your right and you should see a gap in between the wall as seen in the photo above. Get the energy from the tree and go back to the right mechanism, switching to Whitenight. Now quickly go down the stairs and using the energy from the tree, you should form a triangular statue near the metal gate. Hit the triangular statue and change to Evernight again. Enter the now open gate and you should see a series of symbols on the wall to your left.
Symbol Puzzle
Activate the symbol puzzle and remember the sequence of the symbol. Now go back to the northwestern teleport waypoint of the serpent’s heart and use the sequence of the symbols on the walls, just like the 1st puzzle in the Lotus Eater quest. Three Ruin Guards will appear and defeating them will give you the Luxurious Chest in the middle of the platform.
Summary
The Lotus Eater quest is a side quest that focuses on an afterimage who forgot his identity. It is also your task to find the whereabouts of the “hidden children”. You will need to wait for the server to reset to the next day to fully complete the quest and get the Dragonbone Orb. The quest involves a series of puzzles for you to solve and a secret room key that will give you a Luxurious chest.
