In the last Nintendo Direct, we got news of No Man’s Sky for the Switch as well as the pair of Valve’s Portal games and a release date for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Since then, Switch owners have waited for more news from Nintendo with another Direct event. If we believe the rumors, we won’t have to wait for long for the next one. Giant Bomb reporter, Jeff Grubb, said during one of his podcasts that the event is “100% there’s a Nintendo Direct in September, it’s that simple.” Grubb together with GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti discussed the Nintendo Direct presentation at length during the Last of the Nintendogs podcast. Both Grubb and Minotti expressed their confidence that Nintendo will have something up its sleeve in September.
Zelda Blowout
During the podcast, Grubb and Minotti discussed the games that they would like to see in the next Nintendo Direct presentation. One prediction that they both made is that Zelda games will be revealed in the show. Grubb even mentioned that he thinks “this is like a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.” Two games that the insiders are confident will be unveiled at the event will be Switch ports for Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube. The action-adventure game won numerous awards and is included in the Greatest Games of All Time list. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, released in 2002, also for the Nintendo GameCube, didn’t live up to sales expectations but was later included in the Greatest Games of All Time list. The art design for the game featured cel-shaded graphics which proved divisive among fans of the Zelda franchise. Both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker were remastered and ported to the Wii U. They are a part of the handful of games from the Wii U that have not been ported to the Switch. According to Grubb, the Nintendo Direct will happen on the week of September 12. He said that the information comes from “a pretty good source.” The podcast continued to discuss other games such as a Metroid Prime remaster. Minotti hopes that the event gives more details on the Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. All the games that were discussed during the podcast, except for Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, are purely speculation. There was also no mention of a Breath of the Wild 2 game. We are two weeks away from the predicted date of the Nintendo Direct presentation and will hopefully get an official announcement soon. Until then, treat all the rumors and speculations with a grain of salt. Here is a link to the full podcast for the Nintendo Direct speculations for you to digest:
