According to Tom Henderson, the upcoming DMZ mode is not a separate free-to-play game that’s coming out in 2023. Instead, it’s a separate game mode for Modern Warfare II. Henderson adds that the development team has had it with all the leaks. There is legitimate concern within the studio that players might believe that the DMZ mode is something that it’s not. If nothing else, all these leaks suggest that Activision Blizzard is on track to release Modern Warfare 2 on October 28. Otherwise, we would have probably heard of rumblings of a delay by now. Speaking of conflicting reports, different sources claim contrasting dates for the open beta for Modern Warfare 2. Some are saying that it will start in August, but a “more prominent” insider insists that it will be in September. Since there’s no big video game showcase that’s scheduled between now and October, we’re at the mercy of Activision Blizzard. Hopefully, all of this info that are all coming out is a sign that development on Modern Warfare 2 is going well. Infinity Ward is currently working on both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 in tandem. The latter is also expected to be available later this year.
