In a post on the official website, Infinity Ward detailed the audio changes, enemy visibility, user interface, as well as movement. For example, Infinity made several adjustments to things that previously made it difficult to tell allies from enemies. Nameplates are now removed as Infinity has added diamond-shaped indicators over the heads of enemies. In addition, Infinity has adjusted the illumination and contrast to improve enemy visibility. Finally, some fine-tuning to the audio will make the footstep volume of enemies more pronounced while teammates’ footsteps are now much lower in volume. In line with this, Infinity has adjusted the Dead Silence field upgrade so that the activation sound effect isn’t as loud. Infinity Ward will address the issue with Modern Warfare 2’s menu. It promises to have a more streamlined UI for the full release to make it easier to change load-outs, among other things. Another noteworthy change to MW2 is the third-person playlist. Previously, aiming down the sights with any weapon would force a switch to the first-person perspective. This will no longer be the case and players will remain in the third-person view unless you use a scope with a 4x magnification. All of this is to say that the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer will be much better at launch than it was during the beta and it should continue to improve going forward. Speaking of, Modern Warfare 2 is out today in some countries such as Australia and New Zealand. According to Activision Blizzard, the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer release time should be the same around the world for the PC on Friday, October 28, which is at the following times:
UK: 5:00 AM BST Europe: 6:00 AM CEST East Coast US: Midnight EDT West Coast US: 9:00 PM PDT (Thursday, October 27)
However, the Modern Warfare 2 release time on PlayStation and Xbox consoles will differ a bit. Instead of specific release times, Modern Warfare 2 will be available as soon as the clock strikes midnight in your region. The only difference is in West Coast North America, where Modern Warfare 2 will unlock as soon as midnight on the East Coast (or 9:00 PM PT).
