The Best-selling US games of 2022
American market research company, The NPD Group, which has been tracking the video game industry since 1995, revealed the ten best-selling games of 2022 in the US. Game Freak will be thrilled to see that their two RPG titles for 2022 are featured in the list, with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet coming in sixth place and Pokemon Legends: Arceus coming in eighth place. Winning over 149 GOTY awards this year, Elden Ring deservedly took the second spot on the list, while its biggest competitor, God of War: Ragnarok, came in fourth place. FIFA 23, the last entry in the game’s franchise under EA and FIFA’s 29-year partnership, was ranked seventh, while EA’s latest American football video game title, Madden NFL 23, swooped in to take third place on the list.

December 2022’s Best-selling US games
Additionally, the NPD Group published a list of the top 10 best-selling US video games from December. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 retained the top spot on the list, while Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which was released in November, climbed up to second. The only games on the December list that were not included on the year’s best-selling list are Sega’s Sonic Frontiers, EA’s Need for Speed Unbound, Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8, and Square Enix’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
