As per Nintendo, Happy Home Paradise is the first and only paid Animal Crossing DLC. It isn’t available in the game until November 5, but if you’re interested, you can start pre-loading the DLC now so you can start playing as soon as it’s available on Friday.
Get ready to start designing vacation homes soon
Happy Home Paradise is a $25 DLC available for New Horizons. Don’t worry, you can have it for free. All you need to do is to subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. In addition to the free Happy Home Paradise DLC, subscribing to Nintendo’s most recent service will grant you access to a host of N64 and Genesis titles. Regardless if you’re a subscriber or you paid for the DLC, you should find the download link for Happy Home Paradise on its eShop page. It should already go without saying, but you do need to own a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to play it. If we’re being honest, Happy Home Paradise is well worth the $25 premium. This way, you don’t necessarily have to lose your access to the DLC once your subscription to the Expansion Pack has lapsed. Owning Happy Home Paradise lets you design vacation homes for other characters, similar to Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, a standalone 3DS title that was released back in 2015. In addition to Happy Home Paradise, the arrival of the new DLC brings several fan-requested features along with quality-of-life improvements to the game. This includes ordinances, Tyroids, The Roost coffee shop, as well as Kapp’n. Other noteworthy additions include an expandable shopping center, permanent ladders, and more customization options. Unfortunately, Happy Home Paradise is the last big update for New Horizons. Nintendo has yet to announce a sequel to the hit 2020 title.
