I’ll reveal more in the near future. pic.twitter.com/unAlz8AGRw — Artur Łączkowski (@arturlaczkowski) November 11, 2022 In the Twitter post, the Death of Rose developer stated, “Since I left Bloober, it took me a long time before I decided to return to game development. At this point I can’t reveal too much but it’s a big project, with big names and budget. We are using advance technology powered by Unreal Engine 5.” He also stated that he would reveal more details about the title in the future. Laczkowski and his team accompanied the Twitter announcement with a teaser trailer on YouTube. The trailer shows a dark bloodstained hallway like the one in PT. It then pans to a side room where a little boy can be seen eating a dead body in a seemingly casual manner. This similarity led to a Twitter user commenting that the game is inspired by PT. However, the developer denied this. In his response, he stated, “Not really. You know, P.T. really influenced me me as a creator, yet this project is inspired only by our sick imaginations, no other game.” Laczkowski was a member of the Polish video game studio Bloober Team, which was founded by Peter Babieno and Peter Bielatowicz in 2008. He left the team in March 2022 for personal reasons, including his father’s health status, his desire to aid his friends in Ukraine, and his need to improve his career after hitting a creative wall. However, he noted that he was only taking a break and would continue once he feels ready. Before embarking on his hiatus, he stated “I just need a break from everything. I love designing, directing, building worlds, and creating amazing experiences. To that end, I have some big plans for the future but as of right now I need to focus on what matters the most.” PT, short for playable teaser, is a psychological horror title that was developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. It was designed and directed by Kojima alongside filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. PT was released as an interactive teaser for Silent Hills, the ninth installment of the Silent Hill series at the time. Unfortunately, Silent Hills was canceled and Konami removed PT from PlayStation Store, too. Even though it was launched in 2014, PT left an indelible impact on the horror genre and is widely considered one of Kojima’s best games. Since its release, many games have adapted its photorealistic visuals and an impending sense of dread. Some popular horror games P.T. influenced are Visage, Resident Evil 7, and Madison. Apart from the teaser and the announcement, Laczkowski did not release any other detail about the game. As a result, there is no information about its title, plot, setting, characters, and directors, among other details. However, given Laczkowski’s experience and track record with Bloober Team, as well as the teaser trailer, players can expect this new game to meet or even exceed their expectations. Also, the game director teased that the game has some big names on board and is being developed with a big budget. Given all of these bits of information, it is more likely than not that Laczkowski and his team will meet fans’ expectations. By the way, Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming title, which he has been teasing for several months, has been leaking online. In other news, Laczkowski’s former employer, Bloober Team, is working on a Silent Hill 2 remake for Konami. While no release date has been announced, the game is currently in the late development stage. Finally, the studio is adapting The Medium into a TV series.
