What’s new in the VR version of San Andreas?
According to Zuckerberg, GTA: San Andreas VR is an “entirely new way to experience this iconic open-world in virtual reality.” The PlayStation 2 classic was released back in 2004. Many consider it as the game that put GTA on the map, both for the better and for the worse. The game’s story revolves around Carl Johnson, otherwise known as CJ, who goes back to Grove Street after spending some time away. In his return, he finds that his home turf is in disarray and decides to help try and turn things around. Soon enough, CJ finds himself in a life of crime, shooting down rival gangs on a train while riding on a motorcycle, stealing government vehicles, and even delivering questionable parcels using remote-controller toy-sized aircraft. San Andreas isn’t the first classic video game that’s been released for the Oculus Quest 2. Earlier this year, a VR version of Resident Evil 4 was announced and subsequently released earlier this month. We can expect some major changes to come to San Andreas just as what happened to Resident Evil 4 VR. What is interesting here is how Facebook (or Meta) will tone down on the violent and controversial aspects of the game without detracting from the overall experience. Speaking of San Andreas, a modern remaster of the classic title is also coming on November 11. Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition earlier this month. The said bundle contains improved versions of San Andreas, as well as Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City. The remastered version of San Andreas will be available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch.
