At the moment, details about the next film in Tom Cruise’s popular action-spy series are slim. But, thanks to the film’s director/writer, Christopher McQuarrie, we know that several familiar faces are coming back to star in it. This includes Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Czerny, and Vanessa Kirby. In addition to returning stars, the next Mission: Impossible film will welcome newcomers such as Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes. Esai Morales has also signed on to play as the villain for the movie.

When is Mission: Impossible 7 going to release?

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant effect on Hollywood. Multiple films have seen their production either halted if not outright canceled in light of the current situation. Although the filming of Mission: Impossible 7 is still a go, work on the film has been significantly delayed. Originally, the plan was to shoot Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 back-to-back. Since then, things have changed. Paramount has decided to renege on its initial consecutive shooting plans and simply focus on the former first. Naturally, this has led to some casting changes. Angela Bassett isn’t returning to reprise her role as CIA Director Erika Sloane. Meanwhile, the studio decided to replace Nicholas Hault with Morales as the film’s villain. The production of Mission: Impossible 7 is still going strong. McQuarrie continues to post behind-the-scenes photos from his Instagram account, including the latest one which, in addition to revealing Ethan Hunt’s team, also celebrates First Assistant Director Mary Boulding. The film will serve as her first project in that position. McQuarrie uploaded the photo on her 100th day working on the film. Unfortunately, as much as McQuarrie hasn’t shied away from sharing set photos on his social media account, he has yet to reveal when production will end. If it’s any consolation, there are hints as to production concluding soon. Elwes just announced that he has wrapped up filming for the film. Ferguson has also said the same thing as well. Given that both actors play significant roles in the movie, it’s reasonable to expect overall filming to wrap up in a few months, if not weeks if all goes well. If production ends before 2021, this should give the movie plenty of time for post-production work ahead of its May 2022 premiere date.
