Bob Odenkirk has since thanked Breaking Bad series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould for giving him the opportunity to star in the spinoff. He also credited his fellow cast members for helping him develop as an actor.
I want to thank the crew in Albuquerque these people are the sweetest, most hard-working pros. I’ll never be around so many people doing their jobs so well, I can’t imagine it, it was great. — Mr. Bob Odenkirk (@mrbobodenkirk) August 16, 2022 Odenkirk also thanked the fans for giving the show a chance and not hating them for even attempting a spinoff. He was worried that the spinoff would not live up to the high standards set by Breaking Bad, as well as the expectations from its loyal fan base.
Saul Goodman
The character of Saul Goodman started as a minor role in season 2 of Breaking Bad and Goodman mainly served as comic relief when he first appeared. The name is a wordplay on the phrase “it’s all good, man” which was easy for crooks to remember when they got caught by police. The show creators originally intended for Saul Goodman to appear in just three episodes, but he became a mainstay of Breaking Bad due to how well Odenkirk portrayed the corrupt lawyer. Co-creators were so impressed by Odenkirk that they worked on plans for the spinoff well before Breaking Bad ended.

Better Call Saul revolves around the story of how the lawyer and former con artist Jimmy McGill transforms himself into the shady Saul Goodman who did whatever it took to avoid court hearings.
The Future of the Breaking Bad universe
Better Call Saul ends where the timeline of the prequel merges with Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan, in an interview with Variety, confirms they have no plans for another series set in the same universe – at least not yet. Peter Gould, however, teased fans by adding, “who knows how we’re going to feel in a couple of years?” You can watch Better Call Saul on AMC+
