Blizzard confirmed that the release date for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will be next month, November 28. With Dragonflight, players will get some newly updated mechanics for flying mounts. The new Dragon Isles area will also be opened in the game.
A new race of dragon-men
Dragonflight will introduce a new race called the Dracthyr Evoker. This will be the first-ever race and class combination in WoW. According to the game’s description, the Dracthyr Evoker is “able to switch between a humanoid visage and a fearsome draconic form, the Dracthyr are highly mobile, and their unique Evoker class can specialize in ranged damage-dealing or in aiding their allies as a healer by harnessing the mystical gifts of dragonkind.” Players can choose between either the Visage or Dracthyr forms. The race can transform from one shape to the other depending on the situation. As a Dracthyr, gamers take on the shape of a humanoid dragon with wings and a tail which can both be used in combat or as a means of traversing the map. Dracthyr can glide through the air for short distances and eventually learn how to Soar. The Visage can wield both Devastation and Preservation magic. The Red and Blue magic are for damage dealing. Green spells are for healing while Bronze ones manipulate time.
Resurrection Sickness revamp
Dragonflight will introduce a rework of the Resurrection Sickness. For those who haven’t played WoW, Resurrection Sickness is a penalty that players receive when opting to revive at the Spirit Healer instead of walking to their bodies. The duration of Resurrection Sickness has been decreased to one minute instead of ten. There is however an increase in durability loss to 50% and lowers attributes by 75%. Players welcome this change as it lessens the time that they will be unable to fight to just one minute. This is the first time that a change has been implemented for resurrection. The previous penalties for resurrection prevented players from recklessly charging into battle as the cost of dying meant ten minutes of being sidelined. This has fallen out of favor in more recent times as players prefer to just have fun within the game.
Other additions
Dragonflight will also be introducing the Dragon Isles which have four distinct zones. The new map is designed with verticality in mind to make use of the new Dragonriding skills as well as the gliding of the Dracthyr Evoker. Dragonriding allows players to ride drakes within the Dragon Isles. There will be a million combinations for the drakes making each one unique to their riders. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is now available for pre-order for $49.99 for the base package while the Heroic and Epic editions are $69.99 and $89.99 respectively. We previously reported on a leaked document that revealed the release date of World of Warcraft 10.0. It turns out that the document was authentic and had the correct dates for both Dragonflight and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
