Now, it appears that the British actor has finally recovered and the upcoming MCU film is set to start filming once again.
Black Panther 2 has a Chadwick-sized hole to file
Ryan Coogler already had high expectations to meet even if Chadwick Boseman was still around to reprise the role of T’Challa, also known as the titular Black Panther. The 2018 film was an iconic movie that featured a Black director and a predominantly Black cast. In addition to netting $1.3 billion at the global box office, Black Panther also won several accolades, including being the first MCU film to win multiple awards at the 91st Academy Awards. Unfortunately, with Chadwick’s passing in August 2020, Coogler was put in an inevitable position to try and carry on with the highly anticipated sequel after it had just lost its lead actor. Having said that, Coogler and Marvel Studios have decided to thrust Wright’s Shuri into the lead role. The genius younger sister of Boseman’s T-Challa had already played a key factor in previous MCU outings. Not to mention, in the comic books, Shuri took on the mantle of Black Panther if only temporarily. According to BBC, Wright has recovered and has returned to the set of the second Black Panther film. This is good news for Marvel fans as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to premiere on November 11, 2022. Any further delays on filming could have forced Marvel Studios to push back the film’s release date to a later time. Although many fans still have mixed emotions about Wright taking over, it’s best to reserve judgment until after the film is here. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is part of Marvel Studios’ slate of movies this year. But, unlike Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, the Black Panther sequel isn’t expected to dabble with the multiverse.
