Given the game’s legacy and the success of its last two remakes, Capcom has every reason to work on a Resident Evil 4 remake. While Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed that the RE4 remake is in the works, the studio is teasing it.
Is a Resident Evil 4 remake coming soon?
Even though the eighth installment in the franchise is well on its way to becoming the best-selling Resident Evil game with more DLCs supposedly coming, it appears that Village’s success has only made fans want a remake of Resident Evil 4 even more. Technically, a remake is already in development. A VR version of the game was announced a couple of months ago and it is on track to release later this year. However, fans insist that Capcom is going to reveal the Resident Evil 4 remake soon. In fact, some go as far as to say that Shinji Mikami has since given Capcom his blessing to remake the classic Resident Evil title.
— Resident Evil (@RE_Games) August 22, 2021 It’s hard to blame fans for thinking that a Resident Evil 4 remake announcement is imminent. A tweet like this from the official Twitter account isn’t exactly subtle. The aforementioned tweet is a direct reference to Keeper’s Diary from the first Resident Evil game. The said log entry contains writings of someone who details his fight for survival before eventually succumbing to the T-Virus after a couple of days. With Capcom putting “4” in the tweet on purpose, fans are pointing out that this is hard proof that a Resident Evil 4 reveal is coming at Gamescom 2021 at the earliest. We hope that this is the case. There aren’t enough survival horror games to go around these days. Abandoned was supposed to be one horror game that we could all look forward to, but the developers have confirmed that it’s not a horror game at all. A remake of the best Resident Evil game would be a great way to fill the void, especially as fans wait for the promised Resident Evil Village DLCs and the ninth installment in the Resident Evil franchise.
