When Does the Apex Legends Mobile Beta Start?
Respawn Entertainment hasn’t talked about Apex Legends Mobile much in recent months. This is why the news of it going into beta comes off as a shock to everyone. According to their latest announcement, EA’s free-to-play battle royale shooter will kick off its first-ever regional beta sometime this April. Initially, the beta period will see a limited run among a few thousand players in India and the Philippines. However, Respawn did confirm that they plan on expanding the availability of Apex Legends Mobile to other countries in later months.
Is Apex Legends Mobile a Port?
One of the biggest changes coming to Apex Legends Mobile is that it’s literally a mobile version of Apex Legends. It’s not just a port. Rather, it’s a separate game entirely. Respawn Entertainment describes it as a new version of Apex Legends built specifically to run on smartphones. According to Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier, the mobile version comes with “streamlined controls, and thoughtful optimizations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone.” In addition to this, EA also specified that Apex Legends Mobile will not have crossplay nor cross-progression. Instead, Apex Legends Mobile will have its own unique set of cosmetic items and Battle Pass separate from the other versions of Apex Legends. While Apex Legends Mobile will differ greatly from its counterpart on the PC and other platforms, the game will remain free-to-play on mobile platforms.
Is There an Apex Legends Mobile Beta Trailer Available?
Unfortunately, no. Fans will have to wait for a while to see how Apex Legends Mobile runs and performs on smartphones.
What’s Next for Apex Legends?
Apex Legends just reached 100 million players on the PC and other platforms. Also, just last month, Respawn Entertainment released the Nintendo Switch port of Apex Legends. Unfortunately, the port was not well-received upon launch. But, Respawn Entertainment committed to continuing working at improving the Apex Legends’ performance on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps most important of all, Apex Legends is set to welcome its newest legend, Valkyrie. The latest addition comes just in time for the game’s 9th season as part of the Legacy update.
