According to the now-deleted images, the Modern Warfare 2 menu showed selections such as “Round Based Zombies and “Outbreak”. Now, this doesn’t guarantee anything outside of the fact that it’s in the game files. Cut content is nothing new for any game and Call of Duty isn’t immune to it. But, after Treyarch worked with Sledgehammer Games last year to bring the Zombies mode to Call of Duty: Vanguard, anything feels possible. Of course, this also means that there’s another way to explain the presence of a potential Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty is going to use a unified engine starting with Modern Warfare 2. Treyarch could have left the files and codes in Modern Warfare 2 by mistake. Keep in mind that the multiple Call of Duty studios work closely. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll hear confirmation about whether Modern Warfare 2 will have a Zombies mode or not until we’re much closer to its release. A Halloween event would’ve been the ideal time to introduce it. But, with Warzone 2.0 also coming out on November 16 with a potential FIFA partnership, announcing a Zombies mode would be a case of having too many things going on at the same time. For now, it’s best to focus on the fact that Modern Warfare 2 will finally launch this Friday. Until then, you can start filing your “sick” leave so you can get your hands on the bonuses for completing the single-player campaign right away.
